Baileys Irish Cream
Orgasm - a Baileys Cocktail Source: Stuart Webster via Flickr |
The 1980s cocktail scene saw a growth in the number of creamy cocktails being drunk, this was due to Baileys. Baileys mixes so well with so many other liqueurs and spirits that it really is a must have bar essential.
To make the Orgasm cocktail featured here simply take 1 oz of Baileys, 1 oz of Cointreau and 2/3 oz of Grand Marnier Liqueur - add to a cocktail shaker with ice, shake well and strain into an old fashioned glass. As you can see from the image Maraschino cherries make a great garnish!
Baileys and Kahlua
Coffee and Cream, a match made in heaven
Baileys mixes especially well with Kahlua as the cream flavors of the Baileys enhances the coffee taste of the Kahlua. I have combined the two of them really well in my own Choc Bunny cocktail and here are plenty of other cocktails with both Baileys and Kahlua in them.Choc Bunny
1 part Baileys
1 part Kahlua
Chocolate milk
Shake Baileys and Kahlua together in a shaker with ice. Strain into a highball glass and top up with chocolate milk. This is one of my favorite go-to Baileys cocktails and I actually based it on cocktail named something bunny (I forget exactly what) which I had on the Kookaburra Queen in Brisbane. That cocktail used 'normal' milk, but one day at home I happened to have some chocolate milk and I thought using that in the cocktail would be nice.....I no longer make it with 'normal' milk and I renamed it the Choc Bunny because it really is a delicious, chocolately glass of heaven!

Paula Deen Porcelain Nonstick 1-Quart Saucepan with Spouts
I was shocked to realize a couple of years ago that not everyone has what I grew up calling a milk pan! If you don't already have one then consider buying this one to warm your Baileys in.
I love to use mine to make all kinds of hot chocolate drinks from classic to Mexican hot chocolate to adult versions and more.
As well as warming my Baileys up that is :)
Still on the Bailey's theme making a hot chocolate and adding a slug of Baileys is another delicious way to enjoy your Baileys on a cold winter's night.

There are a number of new flavors of Baileys available in different parts of the world from Hazelnut to Mint, Caramel and the chocolate I've already mentioned. These lead to even more fun cocktail recipes to try, if you have a new flavor and you're not sure how to use it the just start by substituting it for the original and see if you want it mintier, more chocolatey, nuttier etc and then add more of those flavors to it.
