There are a number of alcoholic drinks which are green in color from the most obvious - Midori and creme de menthe to an oft-forgotten green liqueur called Green Chartreuse.
Green Chartreuse Cocktails
A Great Choice for St Patrick's Day
Green Chartreuse gets it's coloring from the chlorophyll found in the approximately 130 plants used to make the French liqueur. It has been around since the 1600s and was originally intended to be used as a medicine. The herbs used do give it a very "medicinal" taste. Only 2 or 3 (depending on your source) monks from the Order of Chartreuse know the secret recipe at any one time.
Green Martini
2 shots gin
½ shot green Chartreuse
Put both ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice and shake well. Strain into a cocktail glass to serve and garnish with an olive.
Everybody's Irish
4 parts Irish whiskey
1 part green Chartreuse
1 part green creme de menthe
Stir all of the ingredients together in a mixing glass with ice. To serve, strain into a cocktail glass.
Lollipop
2 parts green Chartreuse
2 parts kirschwasser
2 parts triple sec
1 tsp maraschino liqueur
Place all of the ingredients, along with ice, into a cocktail shaker and shake well. Strain into a cocktail glass to serve
Pago Pago
6 parts gold rum
1 tsp white creme de cacao
1 tsp green Chartreuse
2 parts fresh lime juice
2 parts pineapple juice
Combine all of the ingredients with ice in a cocktail shaker and shake, rattle and roll. Strain into an old-fashioned glass to serve.

Green Creme de Menthe is a mint liqueur that is not only delicious, but also lends itself to a green hue making it perfect for your Green St Patrick's Day.
Irish Eyes
1 oz Irish whiskey
¼ oz green crème de menthe, green
2 oz cream
Place the whiskey, crème de menthe and cream into a shaker with ice cubes and shake well. Strain into an old-fashioned glass and garnish with a maraschino cherry to serve
Irish Pride
3 oz creme de menthe, green
3 oz Amaretto
2 oz lemon juice
Pour the creme de menthe into a highball glass, next pour in the Amaretto and follow with the lemon juice. Stir the ingredients together gently.
Green Fizz
½ tsp powdered sugar
1 egg white
½ lemon, juice of
2 oz dry gin
1 tsp green creme de menthe
carbonated water
Pour all of the ingredients (except the carbonated water)into a shaker along with ice. Shake well and strain into a highball glass. Top the glass up with carbonated water to serve.
Shamrock Cocktail
1 tsp green creme de menthe
½ oz vermouth
1½ oz Irish whiskey
Put all of the ingredients in a mixing glass with ice and stir well. Strain into a cocktail glass to serve and garnish with an olive.

Midori is a very famous melon liqueur that is a green color, a very refreshing liqueur it can be drunk with lemonade or you can try some of these delicious cocktails. The name Midori actually means green in Japanese so it really is an appropriate liqueur to be drinking on St Patrick's Day.
St. Patrick's Day Green Cocktail
1 oz Midori melon liqueur
1 oz whiskey sour mix
2 oz Sprite soda
Fill a highball glass with ice and then add the midori, sour mix and sprite. Stir before serving.

2 oz Midori melon liqueur
1 oz white creme de cacao
2 oz half-and-half
Place all of the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice and shake well. Strain into a brandy snifter and garnish with a maraschino cherry to serve.

¾ oz Midori
2 oz citrus vodka
Splash of white cranberry juice
